Full definition

Generative AI refers to models that synthesize artifacts rather than only predicting labels. Examples include text-generating language models and image generators based on diffusion or related methods. Users typically guide generation with prompts or other conditioning inputs.

These systems are valuable for drafting and ideation, yet they can hallucinate facts, reproduce biased patterns, or raise copyright and privacy issues. Responsible use pairs generation with review, provenance checks, and clear policies about data handling.
